Myskin is the Chamberlain of the Crag. He is calculating, rational, and almost certainly right about everything.
That last quality is what makes him the most dangerous person in Mordikhaan‘s politics — not strength, not wealth, not the kind of military force that lords like Caston Cleargh accumulate. Myskin is dangerous because he is correct. He understands the political landscape with a clarity that most participants in it lack, and he operates from that understanding with a patience and precision that is genuinely unsettling.
The Chamberlain’s Position
Myskin’s role is administrative: he manages the operations of the Crag, advises Santaris Sendus, and navigates the competing pressures of the great lords who all want something from the Stewardship. In a court where the legitimate ruler has been absent for forty years, the chamberlain’s position is one of quiet but real power — the person who actually keeps the institution running accumulates influence whether they seek it or not.
Myskin seeks it. Carefully. Patiently.
Right About Everything
The phrase “almost certainly right about everything” is not flattery. Myskin’s assessments of political situations, of what people will do and why, of where the pressure points are — these assessments are accurate. He is not ideologically committed to any outcome beyond the maintenance of functional governance, which means he can see clearly in situations where more invested parties cannot.
In a series populated by morally grey characters operating from compromised positions, Myskin represents a different kind of danger: the person who is not compromised, who sees clearly, and who acts accordingly — in a world where seeing clearly and acting accordingly often means doing things that look, from the outside, indistinguishable from ruthlessness.
